RESEARCH
Dr Jérémie Zappia

I received my PhD from the University of Liège in Belgium, where I come from, with a focus on the physiopathology of osteoarthritis using primary human cell culture, mouse model and a dash of zebrafish to wrap it up. The zebrafish model nicely complementing mammalian ones, and me being fascinated by its striking visuals and dynamic real-time study opportunities, I have decided to start as a Research Associate at the University of Bristol in Chrissy’s group where I am investigating the roles of neutrophils in fracture responses. From osteoarthritis to fracture, I am fond of musculoskeletal research while Sciences has always raised my interest. I am a team player, love to meet new people and I always focus on the bright side of life.
Outside the lab, I am into creative crafts, playing on colours, textures and shapes and the concept of beautiful and weird. I enjoy hiking as it brings me peace and the immense chance to explore the incredible landscapes we all share. Voilà ! as we say in French, I know it is cliché…wait it is French again.
