RESEARCH
Lizzie Lawrence
Lizzie graduated with a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Bristol in 2016 then did a 4-year Wellcome Trust Dynamic Molecular Cell Biology PhD in Chrissy's lab focused on how genes and mechanical loading impact on joint development and onset of diseases such as Stickler syndrome and Osteoarthritis as well as getting involved in gravity work with the European Space Agency looking at the effect of altered gravity on the immune, musculoskeletal and sensory systems of zebrafish.
She has returned as a postdoc working between the Stephens lab in Bristol Biochemistry and the Hammond lab. Her project seeks to define the role of TANGO1 protein in the export of extracellular matrix components, such as collagen, using both cells and zebrafish as models.
In her spare time Lizzie can be found baking, catching up with friends (usually at the pub) or exploring the Brecon Beacons on horseback!
